WhatsApp is working on cross-platform messaging

Consequently, it has been reported that WhatsApp, one of the technology companies required to offer users the ability to communicate with each other using different applications, is working on cross-platform messaging.

WhatsApp is one of the companies that will be required to comply with the new regulations specified in the European Union's Digital Markets Act.

The reason for this is that WhatsApp is a major technology platform with a significant user base, and it is classified as a gatekeeper because it meets the criteria set by the DMA.

HAS A 6-MONTH DEADLINE

Since it is still in the development stage, cross-platform messaging is not yet ready, but it is said that Meta is currently working on this feature.

WhatsApp has a 6-month period to make its application compliant with the new European regulations in order to offer interoperability services in the European Union.

For now, it remains unclear whether this feature will also cover countries outside the European Union.

With this feature, it will allow people to contact users on WhatsApp even if they do not have a WhatsApp account.

For example, someone from the Signal app could send a message to a WhatsApp user even if they do not have a WhatsApp account.

It has been noted that third-party chat support is in the development stage and will be made available in a future update of the application.
