WhatsApp will no longer be available on these devices
Meta periodically ends WhatsApp support for devices with older hardware that struggle to support new versions. The company has recently announced the list of devices that will no longer be able to access WhatsApp as of January 1, 2025.
Meta has announced that it will end WhatsApp support for certain Samsung, Motorola, HTC, LG, and Sony models as of 2025. To be more specific, devices running Android KitKat and older versions will not be able to access WhatsApp starting January 1.

PHONE MODELS THAT WILL LOSE WHATSAPP SUPPORT
Samsung: Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy Ace 3, Galaxy S4 Mini
Motorola: Moto G (1st Gen), Razr HD, Moto E 2014
HTC: One X, One X+, Desire 500, Desire 601
LG: Optimus G, Nexus 4, G2 Mini, L90
Sony: Xperia Z, Xperia SP, Xperia T, Xperia V,

The primary reason the brand periodically ends support for older devices is the constantly evolving features of WhatsApp. The platform introduces new features aimed at taking the user experience to a more advanced level every day, and modern hardware is required for these innovations to function smoothly.
A similar situation applies to Apple. As of May 2025, WhatsApp support will end for iPhone models running iOS 15.1 and older versions.
