X platform is removing that feature

The feature that allowed users to set NFTs as profile pictures, which was introduced with a rapid move during the period when NFTs gained great popularity, is being removed from X following the loss of popularity and value of NFTs.

IT WAS OFFERED TO TWITTER BLUE USERS

The NFT profile picture feature, which was first introduced by the former management of the platform formerly known as Twitter in January 2022, was one of the platform's most valuable features offered exclusively to Twitter Blue users at the time.

Users could click on and examine the profile picture to learn more about the NFTs, including details such as the NFT collection, contract address, TokenID, and the app it was minted on.

USERS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CREATE NFT PROFILE PICTURES

Today, X has removed all explanations regarding the NFT profile picture feature from the X Premium support page. Although the NFT profile pictures of those who have already set one remain, users will no longer be able to create a new NFT profile picture.

Considering that other social networks have also ended their NFT-related features and projects, the removal of this feature is not very surprising. In 2022, Instagram and Facebook began experimenting with displaying and posting NFTs, but Meta soon ended its NFT support in March 2023.
