Chinese technology giant Xiaomi has decided to remove the feature that allows smartphone users to play videos in the background. The company announced that owners of Xiaomi phones using the HyperOS, MIUI 14, MIUI 13, and MIUI 12 interfaces will lose access to this feature with an upcoming update.
This feature allowed videos to be played in the background even without a YouTube Premium subscription.
In line with its decision, Xiaomi will not make any exceptions for any models. All devices running HyperOS, MIUI 14, MIUI 13, and MIUI 12 will have the background video playback feature removed with the new update.
