YouTube reaches 2.7 billion users! Here is what you need to know about the platform

Founded 19 years ago, the video-sharing platform YouTube stands as the world's largest video-sharing medium and has reached 2.7 billion users.

The platform was established in the US in February 2005 by three entrepreneurs and was acquired by tech giant Google for 1.65 billion dollars within a year of its founding.

Google, which has operated the platform as part of its services, has been active since 2006 and has 2.7 billion active users as of 2024. The platform's user count is expected to reach 2.85 billion next year.

YouTube is a platform visited by 52% of internet users at least once a month and receives 113 billion visits per month.

Offering various features such as ad-free access, the platform's paid services, YouTube Premium and YouTube Music, have over 100 million active users worldwide.

It is stated that advertising revenue, which constitutes YouTube's main source of income, exceeds 30 billion dollars annually.

In the ranking of countries where YouTube is used the most, India ranks first, while Turkey ranks 11th with more than 57 million users.

While 53.9% of the platform's users are male and 46.1% are female, the majority are in the 25-34 age range. A total of more than 720 thousand hours of video are uploaded daily.

The total amount of video watched by all users corresponds to more than 1 billion hours per day.

YouTube is an important source of income for content creators. Among the names earning the most revenue on the platform, US YouTuber MrBeast ranks first with 239 million subscribers. According to 2022 data, it is known that MrBeast earned over 50 million dollars through the platform.
