3 gold medals for Bengisu Avcı at the International Ice Swimming Championship

In a statement released by the Bengisu Avcı Communications Office, it was noted that 256 athletes from 19 different countries participated in the championship, and that Bengisu secured first place in the 1000-meter race in cold water below 5 degrees.

Bengisu, who also reached the top of the podium in the 100-meter breaststroke race on the second day of the event, won another gold medal in the 4x50-meter relay race, leaving her rivals behind with her team consisting of Egor Tropeano, İrem Damar, and Berker Göker.

In the statement, Avcı emphasized that they successfully completed a very challenging championship.

Stating that competing in the icy waters of Europe after training in warmer waters like the Aegean and Marmara required a great struggle, Avcı expressed the following:

“We implemented an intensive training program to overcome our disadvantage against our rivals. With the cold-water camp we held in Çanakkale, we adapted our bodies to extreme conditions below 5 degrees. We are very happy to see the results of our efforts. We had a productive competition process and achieved significant success ahead of the Ice Swimming World Championship to be held in Molveno, Italy, in January.”
