45 representatives resign from the Turkish Football Federation! They admitted to betting

Recent betting scandals that have shaken Turkish football have led to significant changes within the Turkish Football Federation. 45 of the 250 classification representatives tasked with ensuring match order at the federation have resigned from their posts after confessing to betting.

According to information obtained by journalist Atilla Türker from TFF sources, federation officials conducted one-on-one interviews with the representatives, questioning whether they had placed bets in the last 5 years. The 45 representatives who admitted to betting were removed from the weekend match duty lists, and new names were appointed in their place.

TFF President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu had previously stated that 371 referees serving in the leagues had betting accounts and that 152 of them were actively betting. 149 of these referees received 8 to 12-month bans from the Professional Football Disciplinary Board (PFDK). Investigations regarding Super Lig referee Zorbay Küçük are still ongoing.

While resignations are expected to continue, Hacıosmanoğlu evaluated the process with the following words:

"This cleanup operation was carried out to ensure an environment of trust. One should not put those who have a betting account and those who actively bet in the same category. Football fans, clubs, and players must support this struggle. We started it, but it is the duty of the football family to sustain it."
