5 Turkish athletes receive 3-year doping bans

Two athletes in traditional wrestling (oil wrestling), two in weightlifting, and one in boxing have been given 3-year bans from competition.

According to information on the Turkish Anti-Doping Commission (TDMK) website, which announced the sanctioned athletes, a total of 5 athletes were penalized.

Oil wrestlers Furkan Güler and Mustafa Çoban were each handed 3-year bans after their samples tested positive for metenolone.

Male weightlifters Berk Artuç and Burak Çılgın also received 3-year bans for evading, refusing, or failing to submit to sample collection.

National female boxer Mihriban Güneri was given a 3-year ban due to the presence of metenolone in her sample.

Effective as of June, national Greco-Roman wrestler Kadir Kamal, who competes in the 67kg category and holds a European U23 silver medal and a world bronze medal, had also been handed a 3-year ban.
