72-hour warning from RTÜK to VOLE!

In a written statement issued by the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK), it was announced that preliminary investigations have been conducted regarding criticisms and comments directed at clubs and referee Abdülkadir Bitigen on certain sports broadcasting platforms following the Galatasaray-Antalyaspor match, noting that these comments contained 'insults'.

The RTÜK statement indicated that discussions with YouTube regarding the regulation of such broadcasts are ongoing.

The statement, which reported that the RTÜK administration had met with the Turkish Football Federation management regarding the relevant broadcast, said, "It is expected that social media platforms will be subject to RTÜK's oversight processes following potential legal regulations in the coming period. On the other hand, it has been determined that the platform named 'VOLE', where the relevant content was published, has a mobile device application and conducts on-demand internet broadcasting in catalogs through this medium."

Stating that organizations broadcasting via mobile applications are required to obtain a license from RTÜK, the statement included the following: "Following the technical work of the RTÜK Monitoring and Evaluation Department and the Licensing and Allocation Department, 'VOLE', which broadcasts without a license via a mobile application, will be warned to obtain a license, and the organization will be given 72 hours to submit an application. If a license application is not made within the required time, court proceedings will be initiated to block access to the platform."
