Victor Osimhen's role in Galatasaray's new season planning is expanding. Following the confirmation of Mauro Icardi's departure, the management and coaching staff of the yellow-reds are preparing to build the leadership of the attacking line around the Nigerian striker.
Osimhen, who wore the number 45 jersey last season, is expected to take the number 9 shirt in the new season. In the captaincy planning previously hinted at by head coach Okan Buruk, it is on the agenda to assign a role to Osimhen following Abdülkerim Bardakcı.
It is stated that Osimhen, who has adapted to the club in a short time and stands out with his sense of belonging, is aimed to have his responsibilities within the team increased. The Nigerian forward's disciplined nature, willingness to work, and influence in the dressing room are cited as determining factors in this decision.
It is also expressed that Osimhen played a positive role in the transfer process of Lesley Ugochukwu. Despite transfer rumors at the beginning of the season, the striker, who contacted Okan Buruk to get information about the new season's planning and schedule, is expected to be one of the team's key figures both on and off the pitch in the post-Icardi era.
