A Sacha Boey passed through Turkey: The story of a 1 billion lira sale, the turning point of his career...

Galatasaray's 23-year-old French right-back Sacha Boey, who transferred to Bayern Munich for 30 million euros plus 5 million in conditional bonuses, has become the most expensive transfer in the history of the Süper Lig. Bringing 1.08 billion TL into the club's coffers at today's exchange rate, Galatasaray could increase this figure to 1.25 billion TL at today's exchange rate, depending on the conditions.

Here is the past and present of the Boey transfer...

TRANSFERRED FOR 1 MILLION 150 THOUSAND EUROS

Starting his football career in the youth academy of the French team Rennes, the 23-year-old Cameroonian-born French player Boey played on loan at Dijon for one season after taking his first steps into professional football there.

Boey was transferred to Galatasaray at the beginning of the 2021-2022 season for 1 million 150 thousand euros and signed a 4-year contract.

TORRENT HAD SAID 'HE IS NOT A FOOTBALLER'

Having a difficult first season at Galatasaray, Sacha Boey stayed away from the team for a while due to a thigh injury. The Spanish coach Domenec Torrent, who took office in the middle of the season, did not like Sacha Boey's performance and had used the expression, 'He is not a footballer'.

The right-back, about whom the Spanish coach left a negative report when he left his post, was not taken to the pre-season training camp for the second season as he was not considered part of the squad.

Thus, Boey played in only 19 official matches and scored one goal in his first season at Galatasaray.

HE WAS DUBOIS' BACKUP, THEN HE SEIZED THE JERSEY

The turning point of his career was Dubois' injury. Okan Buruk, who was appointed as the head coach of the yellow-red team for the 2022-2023 season, included Boey, whom he had not taken to the camp, in the squad following the injury suffered by Dubois.

Boey, who never let go of the jersey he put on in Dubois' absence, entered the radar of European clubs with his performance, especially in European matches.

In his second season with the yellow-red team, Sacha Boey played in 33 matches, 31 of which were in the Süper Lig and 2 in the Turkish Cup, and found the back of the net once.

HE LEFT HIS MARK ON THE SEASON

Although he received transfer offers from European clubs at the beginning of this season, Sacha Boey remained with the team and further improved his performance. The French footballer, who drew even more attention with his successful performance, especially in UEFA Champions League matches, once again became the number one name on the transfer agenda. Sacha Boey played in 19 Süper Lig matches, all of which were in the starting 11, and 12 Champions League matches this season. Boey, who took part in a total of 31 competitions, scored 2 goals.

HE BROKE THE SÜPER LIG RECORD

Sacha Boey broke the record for the footballer who left Turkey for abroad with the highest transfer fee.

Bayern Munich will pay Galatasaray 30 million euros and 5 million in conditional bonuses. While 30 million euros corresponds to 1.08 billion lira at today's exchange rate, this figure will reach 1.25 billion lira if the conditions are met.

The German club will also give Galatasaray 50 percent of the revenue from two friendly matches to be played between the two teams.

The footballer who previously left Turkey for abroad with the highest transfer fee was Cenk Tosun, who transferred to the English team Everton for 22 million euros.
