In the Süper Lig, Trabzonspor defeated Kayserispor 2-1 away from home, maintaining their position in 3rd place in the league.
Following the match, Trabzonspor manager Abdullah Avcı made statements. In his remarks, the successful coach said, "We needed to move on from the Sivas match. It was a match we played very well in, but we lost. We knew the situation of Kayserispor. We knew it would be a difficult match. Balls played behind the defense were very important for us. We made very correct organizations on the pitch. We did not give away very serious chances during the game. It is very important that Pepe and Enis scored. The team was incredibly organized. I thank my players. We are experiencing interesting things in football. I was very angry at the situation involving Uğurcan Çakır. Denswil was very available. Uğurcan Çakır is a very important goalkeeper for this country. He had made an assist, and then he conceded a goal, balancing it out. These things are part of the game."
Emphasizing that they secured an important victory for third place in the league, Abdullah Avcı said, "We needed to win to maintain our advantageous position for third place in the league. We are 4 points ahead of our rival and we have maintained that. Now we have a cup match ahead of us. It is time for Trabzonspor to unite. The entire community needs to support each other with positive energy."
