Abdullah Avcı's comments on Enis Destan: He needed to be careful

In the first leg of the Ziraat Turkish Cup semi-finals, Trabzonspor defeated Fatih Karagümrük 3-2 at home.

Evaluating the match after the final whistle, Trabzonspor manager Abdullah Avcı said they achieved an important win for the final.

Regarding the Fatih Karagümrük match, Avcı stated, "I said it before the match. They are an experienced team. A team with self-confidence. The last match we played against them is not realistic compared to this one. We shouldn't have started the match like this. We were about to concede a goal in the 40th second. We took the lead with Edin's goal, but after that, we could have fallen behind 3-1. Being 11 against 10 created a 'never give up' attitude in the players. In the second half, we allowed too many crosses from the wings. We made the right defensive stands and transitions. We found two goal opportunities, and the opponent scored. We worked well, we rested well. We were slow to enter the game. It is a very valuable victory. The decision regarding Enis Destan's position was correct. It was a move he shouldn't have made. There are ups and downs in performance. We have taken a step toward the final, but it is not over yet. We want to use our advantage in the best way possible. I congratulate my team. I wish Karagümrük success."

"HE SHOULD NOT LOSE IT EASILY"

Answering a question about the red card received by Enis Destan, Avcı said, "Part of our job is to win the player over and establish communication. Enis is a good professional. He earned his spot, and he should not lose it easily. He is also feeling embarrassed about it. I hope this red card will serve as a lesson for his future life and that he will act more carefully."

Regarding players whose contracts will expire at the end of the season and the planning for the new season, Abdullah Avcı said, "There are Pepe, Onuachu, and Berat whose contracts are ending. We will talk to Berat. On one hand, we are planning for the next season. We are making evaluations regarding every player. We are doing so with Pepe and Onuachu."

Regarding Taxiarchis Fountas, Avcı commented, "This is the first time I am working here. He is one of those players with an interesting goal-scoring touch. Even though he had pain in his foot, he took responsibility. He is a different and special player. His energy is very high; I hope he continues this way."
