Advantageous result for Paris Saint-Germain in London
In the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-finals, Paris Saint-Germain secured an advantage by defeating Arsenal 1-0 in London.
Excitement has begun in the first leg of the semi-finals of European football's premier club competition.
Arsenal, who managed to eliminate the reigning champions Real Madrid, hosted the French side Paris Saint-Germain. The match at the Emirates was officiated by Slovenian referee Slavko Vincic, and a moment of silence was held for Pope Francis following the ceremony.
In the 4th minute of the match, Kvaratskhelia entered the penalty area with the ball from the left wing and passed to Ousmane Dembele, who sent the ball into the net with a first-time left-footed strike.
Arteta's side created many chances in the first half but could not find a goal.
Arsenal found an equalizer through Merino at the beginning of the second half, but the goal was disallowed for offside following a VAR review. With no further goals in a second half marked by end-to-end attacks, the Paris side left the pitch with a 1-0 victory.
The return leg of the tie will be played in Paris on Wednesday, May 7.
