Africa Cup changes hands, new champion is Morocco

In the Africa Cup final between Morocco and Senegal, Senegal had walked off the pitch, and the game, which was halted for a while, resumed after the team returned to the field.

Senegal was subsequently declared the champion. Following the match, Morocco filed an appeal regarding Senegal's walk-off and the incidents that occurred afterward.

Evaluating Morocco's appeal, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Appeals Board announced its decision regarding the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final.

In a statement regarding the matter, the CAF said, "The Confederation of African Football (CAF) Appeals Board has decided today, in accordance with the application of Article 84 of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Regulations, that the Senegal National Team has forfeited the CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025 Final match, and the match result is registered as a 3-0 victory in favor of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF)."
