Louis van Gaal, the former manager of the team, has been appointed as an advisor at Ajax, a club in the Dutch Eredivisie.
In a statement released by the club, it was announced that following a board meeting, a decision was made to appoint Van Gaal to the role of advisor on technical matters.
The 72-year-old Van Gaal, who previously served as manager for the Dutch side, led the team to three league titles and the 1995 UEFA Champions League trophy. Ajax has had a difficult start to the season and currently sits in 15th place in the league with 5 points.
Commenting on his new role, Van Gaal stated, "I want to help Ajax. I currently spend most of my time in Portugal, and my new role will be compatible with this. I want to support the club with my football knowledge. We must find our way back to the top again."
