Alexander Nübel: I took an IETT bus to Taksim

Beşiktaş's German goalkeeper Alexander Nübel has shared his thoughts on his initial period at the black-and-white club and his adjustment process to Istanbul. Speaking to Beşiktaş Magazine, the 29-year-old goalkeeper said he has made a good start both on and off the pitch.

Stating that he has good relationships with his teammates, the technical staff, and club employees, Nübel noted that while he is still staying at a hotel, he has found a home in Istanbul. The German goalkeeper added that his family will also be coming to the city, which he said will make the process even more positive for him.

Nübel, who has not conceded a goal in his first 6 matches with Beşiktaş, said of this performance, "I wasn't expecting such a start." Emphasizing that keeping a clean sheet is important, the experienced goalkeeper noted that his priority is always for the team to win.

PRAISE FOR ITALIANO AND THE FAN ATMOSPHERE

Explaining that they are in constant communication with head coach Vincenzo Italiano, Nübel said the Italian manager is someone who talks to his players constantly and reflects his positive emotions onto the team. Stating that there is also regular contact with the goalkeeping department, Nübel expressed that this communication is valuable for team development for both the defense and the goalkeepers.

Nübel stated that family factors also played a role in his choice of Beşiktaş, explaining that his girlfriend was already familiar with Istanbul and supported him during the decision-making process. The German goalkeeper expressed that Beşiktaş is a big club and that it is natural for expectations to be high.

Evaluating the atmosphere at Tüpraş Stadium, Nübel said that those who dream of becoming footballers as children also dream of playing in such environments. Stating that the support provided by the black-and-white fans throughout the 90 minutes creates powerful emotions on the pitch, Nübel emphasized that he is happy to be a part of this atmosphere in a Beşiktaş jersey.

Touching on his new life in Istanbul, Nübel said he explores the city in his spare time. Describing how he walks around Beşiktaş, goes to the beach in Kilyos, takes the ferry, and crosses to the Asian Side, the German goalkeeper said, "I bought an Istanbulkart and even took an IETT bus to Taksim."

Nübel, who mentioned an interest in photography, especially analog photography, shared that he takes photos while exploring Istanbul and has found a place where he can digitize his films. Regarding his season goal, Nübel stated that he wants to win as many matches as possible, adding that the feeling of winning a trophy is always special.
