KHELIF, THE NAME AT THE CENTER OF CONTROVERSY

Imane Khelif had faced Italian boxer Angela Carini in the round of 16, and Carini had withdrawn from the ring 45 seconds into the match.

Following this match, the Algerian athlete drew attention as one of the most talked-about names on the world agenda.

While it was recalled that Khelif was disqualified from the 2023 Women's World Championships on the grounds that she could not meet the necessary eligibility criteria, attempts had been made to have the Algerian athlete removed from the competitions.
