Alperen Şengün makes NBA history: Highest-scoring Turkish player

Alperen Şengün, playing for the Houston Rockets in the NBA, broke his career record with a 45-point, 16-rebound performance against the San Antonio Spurs, leading his team to a 114-101 victory.

The national player became the Turkish basketball player to score the most points in a single game in NBA history.

Previously, Mehmet Okur had recorded 43 points, while Hidayet Türkoğlu had put up a 39-point performance.

SURPASSED WEMBANYAMA

Şengün, who is in his third season in the NBA, also broke another career record with five steals, added three assists, and one block, outperforming the French rookie phenomenon and No. 1 draft pick Victor Wembanyama.

JOINED THE RANKS OF STARS

Şengün became the fifth player to record at least 45 points, 15 rebounds, and five steals in a single game since the 1973-74 season, when steals began to be tracked.

He joined Anthony Davis, Joel Embiid, James Harden, and John Drew, who have achieved this feat twice. At 21 years and 224 days old, Şengün is the youngest player to achieve this milestone.

In Houston, Jalen Green played with 23 points and 10 assists, while Fred VanVleet recorded 21 points.

For the Spurs, Devin Vassell with 22 points and Branham with 20 points took the court.
