Altay Bayındır's confession before the Fenerbahçe match: 'I cried alone at home'

National goalkeeper Altay Bayındır, who transferred from Fenerbahçe to Manchester United, was a guest on the program Avrupa Stüdyosu broadcast on TRT Spor.

The 26-year-old goalkeeper made statements about the match they will play against his former team, Fenerbahçe, in the UEFA Europa League.

Bayındır responded to transfer rumors about him, in addition to discussing his career at Fenerbahçe.

The national goalkeeper's statements are as follows:

“I EXPERIENCED INDESCRIBABLE EMOTIONS AT FENERBAHÇE”

“It is a very special situation for me. I will be an opponent against the team where I experienced so many things. It will be a truly special and meaningful match for me. I experienced indescribable emotions many times at Fenerbahçe, and this will be one of them. I lived through very special things during my time playing at Fenerbahçe. I also experienced painful things at times. Especially in my last year. There was an excitement and desire among the fans due to not winning the championship for a long time. This also reflected negatively on the players. You are down 1-0 in the 20th minute; the match can turn around, but the fans' demands can put pressure on you. Football is not a simple game. The opponent is also playing to beat you. During my time there, I also experienced periods where unity and solidarity were broken. Throughout the years I played at Fenerbahçe, I never conceded a goal by letting the ball slip through my hands or between my legs. I didn't have any serious mistakes. These reactions were also partly due to the fact that we hadn't won the championship for many years.

“I WAS GETTING INJECTIONS EVERY DAY”

My first 3 years at Fenerbahçe were a period where I was constantly improving. My fourth year was like that too, but I suffered an injury that season. I was getting injections every day and taking painkillers. Finally, I found a good doctor for my lower back and spine, and I found him myself. The doctor told me I was in a very critical process and asked, 'How did you play like this?' Then I had surgery. During the time I had surgery, there were also rifts with the fans.”

“I LEFT FENERBAHÇE BY GENERATING REVENUE”

One of the difficult processes for me was the transfer period. This is not specific to Fenerbahçe; it is my character. I did the same thing at Ankaragücü. You must always respect a club you are under contract with. I received offers a year before my contract was set to expire, but I asked them to talk to my club. My contract was ending in my last year at Fenerbahçe, and there was a possibility of leaving for free, but that is not a situation that suits my character. I am a person who experiences everything internally. I spoke with the president and explained the situation. It was a contract with significant differences in financial terms. I told our president that I wanted to leave on good terms. I said to our president, 'Let's sign a contract,' and I extended my contract. Afterward, the club that wanted me continued to want me, and I ended up leaving by generating revenue for Fenerbahçe.”

“I CRIED ALONE AT HOME”

Fenerbahçe currently has a good squad. During my time, there was a defensive lineup that showed variability. I couldn't play with the same defensive players for 5-6 matches in a row. I played with many different players. Some center-backs want the ball at their feet in certain positions, but you need to pass it a step ahead of them and open up their running space. I was in goal for 4 of the 11-year period. Of course, I would have liked to win the league championship. I remember going home and crying alone after a match we lost. That is how much I had embraced it.

WILL HE LEAVE MANCHESTER UNITED?

I had a conversation with manager Erik ten Hag about not playing at Manchester United. I always respect the manager's decision, but I also do everything I can to play. I only focus on the pitch. There have been reports that do not reflect the truth about many of our players playing in Europe. I am a person who tries to be successful in the team I am in and tries to get the reward for the struggle I put in, but of course, no one knows what time will show. My current thought is to continue working until the end to be the best in the team and area I am in.”

“THE PERSON I GET ALONG WITH BEST IS ANTONY”

I get along well with Antony on the team. We have a different kind of communication. He also went through difficult days. I hope he starts getting as much playing time as he wants as soon as possible. I have a good relationship with Casemiro and goalkeeper Tom Heaton. We talk with Onana. I get along well with Bruno Fernandes; we go out to eat with him from time to time. Bruno is truly one of the rare professional players I have ever seen.”
