The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) is facing a notable claim ahead of the tender it will hold for the new term broadcasting rights of the Süper Lig and 1. Lig. It has been suggested that Amazon is preparing to enter the football broadcasting market in Turkey and plans to submit a bid for the tender once the specifications are announced.
The TFF will hold the new broadcasting rights tender on January 13, 2027. In addition to TFF representatives, three representatives from the Union of Clubs and one representative from the 1. Lig will serve on the Broadcasting Tender Commission established to conduct the tender process.
The commission is expected to work on the broadcasting model, clubs' expectations, economic criteria, and technical conditions prior to the tender. It is stated that after the framework is determined by the commission, the TFF will work with a company specializing in broadcasting rights and sports broadcasting in Europe to prepare the specifications.
In the new tender, it is expected that not only the broadcasting fee but also technical infrastructure and broadcast quality will be among the determining factors. It is stated that criteria such as 4K broadcasting, high resolution, number of cameras, production standards, and broadcast security will be included in detail in the specifications.
According to Turkey newspaper columnist Tahir Kum, Amazon plans to participate in the Süper Lig broadcasting tender. It was claimed that the company is working on a bid that could reach 400 million dollars for the broadcasting rights.
