Andres Iniesta announces his retirement from football

Andres Iniesta, one of Spain's living legends, has announced that he is retiring from football at the age of 40.

Andres Iniesta, who achieved countless successes with Barcelona and the Spanish national team, and most recently played for the United Arab Emirates side Emirates Club, has announced that he is ending his professional football career. Having risen to the first team in 2002 after coming through the youth ranks of the Catalan club, Iniesta played there continuously until 2018. The Spanish footballer recorded 57 goals and 135 assists in 674 matches, while winning 9 LaLiga titles, 7 Spanish Super Cups, 6 Copa del Rey titles, 4 UEFA Champions League titles, 3 FIFA Club World Cups, and 3 UEFA Süper Cups.

Iniesta, who wore the Spanish national team jersey 131 times and scored 14 goals, experienced 1 World Cup victory and 2 European Championship titles.

Transferring to Japan in 2018, Iniesta won 3 trophies with Vissel Kobe, including 1 league title. The successful midfielder performed with 26 goals and 25 assists in the 134 matches he played for the club.

In the final period of his career, Iniesta signed with Emirates Club in August 2023 and left the team after 1 season.
