Andriy Shevchenko, one of the country's most successful footballers, has become the new president of the Ukrainian Football Association.
According to a statement from the Ukrainian Football Association, Andriy Shevchenko, who was the sole candidate at the congress held in the capital Kyiv, has been elected as the federation president.
The 47-year-old Shevchenko enjoyed many championships during his playing career at major clubs such as Dynamo Kyiv, Milan, and Chelsea. After ending his playing career, he served as head coach for the Ukraine National Team and Genoa.
Shevchenko, who played 111 matches for the Ukraine National Team, holds the title of the national team's top scorer with 48 goals.
