National boxer Samet Gümüş, who stepped into the ring for the final of the European Elite Boxing Championships hosted by Serbia, has won the gold medal. Gümüş has made history as the first male boxer to win a gold medal in 13 years.
Competing in the European Elite Boxing Championships held in Belgrade, Fenerbahçe national athlete Samet Gümüş defeated Atila Bernarth 4-1 to successfully reach the top of the podium.
Having previously won gold at the 2022 European U22 Championships, bronze at the 2022 Mediterranean Games, and silver at the 2023 European Games, Samet Gümüş achieved a significant milestone by reaching for the gold medal at the 2024 European Championships.
Following Olympic boxers Buse Naz Çakıroğlu and Busenaz Sürmeneli, Samet Gümüş has become another athlete to be crowned champion.
