Antalyaspor's Israeli player engages in propaganda after goal celebration
Bitexen Antalyaspor, which hosted Trabzonspor at home in the 20th week of the Trendyol Super League, left the pitch with 1 point after the goal scored by its Israeli player Sagiv Jehezkel. The note written on the Israeli player's wrist and the Star of David he drew during his goal celebration sparked reactions.
Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç announced that a judicial investigation has been launched into Israeli footballer Sagiv Jehezkel, who, after scoring a goal in the Antalyaspor-Trabzonspor match, displayed a message referencing October 7, the date Hamas launched the Al-Aqsa Flood Operation and Israel began its attacks on Gaza.
Antalyaspor's Israeli footballer Sagiv Jehezkel, who had previously refused to participate in a moment of silence for Palestine, showed cameras a wristband with the Star of David and the inscription "100th day of the October 7 attack" after scoring against Trabzonspor.
Antalyaspor announced that it has suspended the player from the squad.
"A JUDICIAL INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN LAUNCHED"
Minister Tunç stated the following in a post on his social media account:
"A judicial investigation has been launched by the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against Israeli footballer Sagiv Jehezkel for the crime of 'publicly inciting the people to hatred and hostility' due to his ugly gesture supporting the massacre committed by Israel in Gaza after the goal he scored in the Antalyaspor-Trabzonspor Super League match played today. I once again condemn the attacks of Israel, which has been committing crimes against humanity by carrying out genocide in Gaza for over 100 days, without sparing children, women, the young, or the elderly. We will continue to stand by the oppressed people of Palestine."
Israeli player Sagiv Jehezkel has been detained.
