Real Madrid defeated Leipzig 4-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu in the 3rd week of the Champions League, marking their third consecutive victory in the tournament. With this result, the Spanish team climbed to 9 points, and Arda Güler, who started in the first 11, stood out with his performance.
The national footballer put Real Madrid 2-0 ahead with a goal in the 52nd minute. Arda, who finished Kylian Mbappe's shot on the goal line, was replaced by Brahim Diaz in the 78th minute.
Speaking to Real Madrid TV after the match, Arda Güler stated that they were pleased with the team's performance, saying, "The performance we put on was very good, we are really pleased. This is exactly what we need to do. We are Real Madrid and we have to win every match."
Touching on the atmosphere at the Bernabeu, Arda emphasized the importance of fan support, stating, "This is a very important factor; because when we play at home, in front of our fans, we try to give our all for them."
Speaking about the Barcelona derby to be played in LaLiga this weekend, the young player said, "It will be a big match, a top-level encounter; we will do everything in our power to win. We are ready."
Arda Güler gave a humorous response to the question about him finishing the position that could have been credited as Mbappe's goal: "I can say I 'stole' the goal from Mbappe, but I knew he would score another one anyway. So it's not a problem."
French star Mbappe also responded to his teammate with praise. Mbappe said, "He is my brother. I love him. He is a very important player for us and he is playing very well this season. If it's about Arda, I can give my goal to him, no problem. I would also like to provide even more assists to him. Because he has provided many assists to me."
After the match, Arda Güler's social media post saying "I apologize for stealing your goal" also drew attention. Mbappe replied with a heart emoji, saying, "Little brother."
