Arbitration Board reduces Dursun Özbek's fine
The TFF Arbitration Board has reduced the 400,000 TL fines imposed on Galatasaray and Dursun Özbek to 200,000 TL each. The 363,000 TL fine given to Fenerbahçe was upheld.
The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) Arbitration Board has reduced the fines imposed on Galatasaray and the yellow-red club's president, Dursun Özbek.
In a statement on the TFF's website, it was reported that the appeal against the 400,000 TL fines imposed on both Galatasaray and President Özbek by the Professional Football Discipline Committee (PFDK) due to the president's statements regarding referees and other match officials had been reviewed.
As a result of the appeal, it was stated that the fines for the yellow-red club and Dursun Özbek were reduced to 200,000 TL each.
It was also reported that the 400,000 TL fines applied to Çaykur Rizespor and the blue-green club's president, İbrahim Turgut, for the same reason were also changed to 200,000 TL each.
It was noted that the 363,000 TL fine imposed on Fenerbahçe for various reasons was upheld.
The statement made by the TFF is as follows;
The appeal by Fenerbahçe Futbol A.Ş. against the PFDK's decision dated 18.01.2024 and numbered E.2023-2024/641 - K.2023-2024/795 was reviewed. As a result of the deliberation;
- It was understood that there was no inaccuracy in terms of proof, legal classification, and determination of the penalty regarding the 168,000.00 TL fine imposed on Fenerbahçe Futbol A.Ş. in accordance with Article 52/2 due to field incidents caused by its fans, and therefore the application was rejected and the decision was upheld, unanimously.
- It was understood that there was no inaccuracy in terms of proof, legal classification, and determination of the penalty regarding the 195,000.00 TL fine imposed on Fenerbahçe Futbol A.Ş. in accordance with Article 49/3 due to the failure to keep stairwells clear and the fact that this action was carried out for the 4th time in the same season, and therefore the application was rejected and the decision was upheld, by majority vote.
The appeal by Galatasaray Sportif A.Ş. and its president Dursun Aydın Özbek against the PFDK's decision dated 18.01.2024 and numbered E.2023-2024/645 - K.2023-2024/802 was reviewed. As a result of the deliberation;
- Regarding the 400,000.00 TL fine imposed on Galatasaray Sportif A.Ş. in accordance with Article 38/3 of the FDT due to the statements made by the club president to members of the press on 12.01.2024 and published on the club's official social media account (YouTube) regarding Referees and Other Match Officials, it was decided to uphold the decision by correcting it to a 200,000.00 TL fine, applying a 1/2 reduction at the discretion of the board under Article 13 of the FDT, unanimously.
- Regarding the 400,000.00 TL fine imposed on Galatasaray Sportif A.Ş. President Dursun Aydın Özbek in accordance with Article 38/2 of the FDT due to his statements made to members of the press on 12.01.2024 and published on the club's official social media account (YouTube) regarding Referees and Other Match Officials, it was decided to uphold the decision by correcting it to a 200,000.00 TL fine, applying a 1/2 reduction at the discretion of the board under Article 13 of the FDT, unanimously.
It has been decided.
