Arbitration Board reduces Jose Mourinho's suspension
The TFF Arbitration Board has reduced Fenerbahçe manager Jose Mourinho's 4-match suspension to 2 matches. Meanwhile, it upheld the 1-match suspension for Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk.
The decisions taken by the Arbitration Board following today's meeting are as follows:
"The appeal by Galatasaray Technical Director Okan Buruk against the PFDK decision dated 27.02.2025 and numbered E.2024-2025/812 - K.2024-2025/1035 was examined. As a result of the deliberation;
- Regarding the decision to penalize Galatasaray Technical Director Okan Buruk with a 1-official match ban from entering the locker room and the bench, and a 1,500,000.00 TL fine, due to statements made in the post-match press conference that were deemed to damage the reputation of football and institutions, in accordance with Article 38/1-c of the FDT (Football Disciplinary Instructions); since it was understood that there was no reason requiring a penalty from the upper limit in determining the fine, it was unanimously decided to correct and uphold the PFDK decision to a 1-official match ban from entering the locker room and the bench, and a 500,000.00 TL fine.
The appeal by Fenerbahçe Technical Director Jose Mourinho against the PFDK decision dated 27.02.2025 and numbered E.2024-2025/812 - K.2024-2025/1036 was examined. As a result of the deliberation;
- Regarding the decision to penalize Fenerbahçe Technical Director Jose Mourinho with a 2-official match ban from entering the locker room and the bench, and a 117,000.00 TL fine, due to unsportsmanlike conduct toward the match referee, in accordance with Articles 36/1-c and 35/4 of the FDT; since it was understood that there was no reason to deviate from the lower limit in determining the penalty, it was unanimously decided to correct and uphold the PFDK decision by setting the penalty at the lower limit, resulting in a 1-match ban from entering the locker room and the bench, and a 58,500.00 TL fine, in accordance with Article 36/1-a of the FDT.
- Regarding the decision to penalize Fenerbahçe Technical Director Jose Mourinho with a 2-official match ban from entering the locker room and the bench, and a 1,500,000.00 TL fine, due to statements made against opposing team members that were contrary to sports ethics and the spirit of fair play, in accordance with Article 38/1-c of the FDT; since there was no reason to deviate from the lower limit in determining the ban from entering the locker room and the bench, and no situation requiring the fine to be set at the upper limit, it was unanimously decided to correct and uphold the PFDK decision to a 1-official match ban from entering the locker room and the bench, and a 500,000.00 TL fine, in accordance with Article 38/1-c of the FDT."
