Arda Turan: Beşiktaş played with more superiority

In the 25th week of the Trendyol Super Lig, Eyüpspor was defeated 3-1 by visiting Beşiktaş. After the match, Eyüpspor manager Arda Turan made statements to the press.

Starting his remarks by saying that they could not reflect the game they wanted on the pitch against Beşiktaş, Turan said, "We would have liked to put on a better performance. But it wasn't possible today. Beşiktaş played better and with more superiority than us. They wanted the match more than we did.

That is why I congratulate the Beşiktaş community. Sometimes this happens in football. While waiting for the block defense in the second zone, we remained too detached from Mario and Rashica's crosses from the wings, failing to make enough contact. What we were very careful about was transition defense.

We conceded the second goal from a transition; we conceded while we were about to score. I am not satisfied with any moment of the game. We can win or lose, but we need to prepare more carefully. I don't think we prepared well. After all, we are playing against one of Turkey's biggest clubs. We needed to be more careful and ready. We will have to reflect on this. These are difficult times for us, it is not easy. We are close to our goal. Our primary goal is to stay in the league and make plans for the future. Evaluating Emre Mor's performance, Turan said, "What we need from Emre is not just for him to be a hero. Let him play like himself and do what the game requires, let him play the game correctly. Emre Mor is a very special player. He is one of the greatest talents Turkish football history has ever seen. He still has a lot of important time ahead of him. A good Emre Mor can play for many years. We are trying to help every player of ours as much as we can. We will continue to do so. Football is a player-oriented game," he said.

Emphasizing that they want to be permanent in the Super Lig, Arda Turan said, "Our goal is first to stay in the league. After staying in the league, scouting for players and planning for the future will be better for us. There are many things regarding the stadium issue. If we go to Europe next year, maybe there is a blessing in it for us. Of course, we want to go, but sometimes taking firm steps can be more correct for the future. We will work for the sustainability of Eyüpspor," he said.
