Aysel Önder wins gold medal with world record
Competing in the Indoor Athletics Championships, Aysel Önder broke the world record to win the gold medal.
Special athlete Aysel Önder, competing in the 2024 Virtus World Indoor Athletics Championships, won the gold medal in the women's 400 meters with a time of 57.54, setting a new world record.
According to the statement from the Turkish Sports Federation for the Intellectually Disabled, Aysel Önder ran the 400 meters in 57.54 seconds at the championships held in Reims, France, breaking the previous world record of 58.12 seconds held by Poland's Barbara B. Niewiedzial and claiming the gold medal.
National athletes secured a total of 8 medals on the second day of the event, including 2 gold, 4 silver, and 2 bronze.
