Aysel Özkan becomes European runner-up at Weightlifting Championships
Competing in the women's 64kg category at the European Weightlifting Championships, our national athlete Aysel Özkan won the gold medal in the snatch with a lift of 100kg, and secured the silver medal with a total of 222kg, becoming the European runner-up.
On the fourth day of the European Weightlifting Championships, Aysel Özkan and Nuray Güngör took to the stage in the women's 64kg category during the evening session.
Our national athlete Aysel Özkan won the gold medal in the snatch with a lift of 100kg. While our athlete finished fourth in the clean and jerk with 122kg, she won the silver medal with a total of 222kg, becoming the European runner-up.
Nuray Güngör finished fifth in the snatch with 96kg, sixth in the clean and jerk with 121kg, and fifth overall with a total of 217kg.
Turkish Weightlifting Federation President Talat Ünlü congratulated our athletes, coaches, and clubs who won medals at the European Championships.
Following these results, the total number of medals at the end of the fourth day of the championship reached 19, consisting of 8 gold, 7 silver, and 4 bronze medals.
