Aysu Türkoğlu, who crossed the English Channel in 16 hours, has begun her Cook Strait crossing in New Zealand
Open-water swimmer Aysu Türkoğlu has traveled to Wellington, the capital of New Zealand, for her crossing of the Cook Strait, one of the "Oceans Seven" routes. Türkoğlu is currently continuing her challenge on the 27-kilometer course.
Aysu Türkoğlu entered the water, which is approximately 13 degrees Celsius, around 09:00 TSI.
Entering the water in the evening according to New Zealand time, Türkoğlu is currently attempting to navigate the challenging 27-kilometer course in the dark.
Aysu Türkoğlu, who became the youngest Turkish person to swim across the English Channel between England and France on July 30, 2022, in 16 hours and 28 minutes, also swam across the approximately 40-kilometer North Channel on August 9 of last year in 11 hours, 48 minutes, and 19 seconds, earning the title of the "first Turkish woman and youngest Turkish athlete" to achieve this feat.
