Bad news for Beşiktaş from Ghezzal: He will stick to his contract

It has been reported that the negotiations aimed at removing the option in the contract of Rachid Ghezzal, who returned to the team after being excluded from the squad at Beşiktaş, have not yielded positive results for now.

According to a report by Fanatik, the Algerian footballer's contract, which expires at the end of the season, would have been extended for another year if he played in 20 matches this season. While the Black and Whites proposed the removal of this option, a negative response came from the Ghezzal camp. The 31-year-old footballer informed the management that he would stick to his contract.

HE HAS PLAYED IN 17 MATCHES THIS SEASON

Having been frequently sidelined for the past two seasons due to injuries, Ghezzal has found the opportunity to play in 17 matches across all competitions this season. Ghezzal, whom Beşiktaş first loaned from Leicester and then added to their squad for 3 million Euros, earns 2.2 million Euros per year.

HIS PERFORMANCE THIS SEASON

Playing in 17 official matches, Ghezzal managed to score 1 goal and provide 4 assists. The Algerian star experienced the joy of a championship with the Beşiktaş jersey in the 2020-2021 season.
