Barcelona in shock! Villarreal wins incredible 8-goal thriller

Barcelona and Villarreal faced off in the La Liga week 21 match. Villarreal won the match, hosted by Barcelona, 5-3. 

Villarreal took a 2-0 lead with goals from Gerard Moreno in the 41st minute and Ilias Akhomach in the 54th minute.

BARCELONA COMES BACK FROM 2-0!

İlkay Gündoğan stepped up for Barcelona in the 60th minute to narrow the gap to one. Increasing their pressure after İlkay's goal, Barcelona leveled the score with Pedri in the 68th minute. In the 71st minute, Barcelona managed to turn the game around from 2-0 to 3-2 in just 11 minutes thanks to an own goal by Eric Bailly, who transferred to Villarreal from Beşiktaş.

VILLARREAL HAD THE LAST WORD

However, Villarreal did not give up. Gonçalo Guedes stepped up in the 84th minute, finding the back of the Barcelona net to make it 3-3. As the final minutes of stoppage time were played, Villarreal increased their pressure. Sörloth stepped up in the 90+9th minute to put Villarreal back in the lead. Jose Morales had the final say in the match. When the clock showed 90+12, Morales scored his team's fifth goal, securing 3 points for Villarreal.

With this result, Barcelona remains at 44 points. Villarreal, on the other hand, rose to 23 points with this victory. 

In the next match of the league, Barcelona will host Osasuna. Villarreal will face Cadiz at home.
