Barcelona statement on Pep Guardiola: He has a contract
Barcelona President Joan Laporta stated that Pep Guardiola is not among the candidates for the managerial position. Regarding Guardiola, Laporta said, "He has a contract with Manchester City and wants that to be respected. I have spoken with him and I know his plans well."
Barcelona, which will part ways with Xavi at the end of the season, continues its search for a new head coach.
While many names have been brought up as potential replacements for Xavi, who announced he would be stepping down during a press conference following the 5-3 defeat to Villarreal in LaLiga, Joan Laporta stated that Pep Guardiola is not among those candidates.
"I KNOW HIS PLANS WELL"
In an interview with the Spanish radio station RAC1, Laporta mentioned that he had spoken with Pep Guardiola, stating, "He has a contract with Manchester City and wants that to be respected. I have spoken with him and I know his plans well."
When asked about Hansi Flick, Laporta replied, "Ask Deco about that. I will not comment on this. I have not spoken with any head coach."
"HE DOES NOT DESERVE THIS"
Explaining the process regarding Xavi's decision to leave, Laporta said, "Xavi told me that leaving was for the best and that he was resigning. I want to continue with Xavi until the end of the season. I will not fire him because he does not deserve this. We trust him."
