Beşiktaş announces: It will pay compensation to its former player
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has ruled that Beşiktaş must pay 2 million euros in termination compensation to Victor Ruiz, whose contract it terminated in 2020, along with the 270 thousand euros deducted during the Covid period, plus 5 percent annual interest.
CAS has ruled that Beşiktaş must pay its former footballer Victor Ruiz compensation exceeding 2 million euros, including interest.
Beşiktaş, which has been receiving inconsistent results since the beginning of the season, has fallen 17 points behind the league leader, and has bid an early farewell to European competitions, has received more bad news from a former player.
Beşiktaş had transferred the player from La Liga side Villarreal for a transfer fee of 2.5 million euros in the 2019-2020 season.
The statement from Beşiktaş Club regarding the matter is as follows:
''According to the December 20, 2023 Court of Arbitration for Sport – CAS decision, it has been ruled that 2,048,538.93 EUR in termination compensation and the 270,000 EUR salary deduction made due to the Covid-19 pandemic shall be paid to professional A-team player Victor Ruiz Torre, whose contract with our Company was terminated on July 15, 2020, including 5% annual interest to be calculated taking into account the relevant periods''
