Beşiktaş Manager Bronckhorst makes statement on victory
Beşiktaş Manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst, in his statement before the Maccabi Tel-Aviv match, said, "Perhaps the best medicine for all of us will be a victory. This win will also give us morale for the future."
In the 5th week of the UEFA Europa League, Beşiktaş will face Israeli side Maccabi Tel-Aviv in Hungary tomorrow. Before the match, Manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst and player Gabriel Paulista made statements at a press conference.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst stated that they are heading into a big match, saying, "We are playing our fifth match in the UEFA Europa League. We came here to win for many reasons. We came to regain our winning identity. We should have done this a long time ago.
It is an important match. We are ready for this match. Not just today and yesterday. We have had a difficult few days since our last match, which we lost. We are sad about this situation. Some changes have been made. It is sad to see these. We are going through a period where none of us have performed well.
Our management is making these decisions so that we can have a better future. As a team, we need to do what is necessary tomorrow. It is not easy, we need to focus. These things happen in football. Perhaps the best medicine for all of us will be a victory. This win will also give us morale for the future," he said.
"WE NEED TO ACHIEVE VICTORIES"
Emphasizing that his morale was very low after the Göztepe match, the Dutch manager said, "Maybe I didn't express myself fully. It is nice for me to be here, where my goals align. We are going through difficult moments. Maybe I didn't see the situation very clearly at that moment. It was like that on Sunday. We need to keep standards high for myself, the club, and our team. We need to achieve victories for this. If we win tomorrow, it means we will reach 9 points. The remaining matches will also be more encouraging for us. Right now, both I and my players feel better. We will continue. We will look ahead, and that is what we will do tomorrow," he expressed.
"WE CAME TO REPRESENT BEŞİKTAŞ IN THE BEST WAY"
Stating that they had a good start to the season, the black-and-white team's coach said, "The relationship between the team and the fans is always important. For us, a good game also means making the fans proud. When things don't go well and there are bad results, we are the side that is most saddened. A good game and a good result tomorrow could be the start of a good period for us again. We are trying to do this. We came here to represent Beşiktaş in the best way. The three points tomorrow are not only important in terms of the Europa League standings, but also in terms of energy and giving us morale for the matches in the coming weeks," he said.
"WE ANALYZED THE OPPONENT WELL, WE ARE READY FOR THE MATCH"
Emphasizing that he has watched many of Maccabi Tel-Aviv's matches, Bronckhorst said, "They are a good team. They almost qualified for the Champions League. We watched the Ajax match, we watched their other matches too. They are a team that tries to play modern football. Their current performance does not reflect their true situation. It will be a difficult match for us tomorrow. But we analyzed the opponent well and we are ready for the match. We are here to win. We will try to get the three points by working hard," he concluded.
"WE ARE HERE TO WIN TROPHIES"
Black-and-white player Gabriel Paulista said, "I am very happy to be back with the team. First of all, I would like to thank our fans for their love for me. I am working very hard. I am trying to reflect the ambition to win and succeed that I have inside me to my teammates. Yes, we are conceding many goals.
As defenders, I criticize ourselves. However, football is a team game; the goals conceded are not just caused by four or five defenders. We play together, we make defending difficult together. We are not very compact. We have to fix these as a team. Not just the defense, midfield, and forwards. We have to act together. We also conceded bad goals from set pieces.
We gave our opponents many unnecessary advantages that we shouldn't have. We have to change this," he stated. Paulista added, "After the Göztepe defeat, we had two days to reflect. We thought well and actually saw the mistakes we made.
We need to make fewer mistakes. Football is a game that does not accept mistakes this much. The point we need to focus on right now has to be fewer mistakes, more victories, and winning," he said.
