Beşiktaş star responds to Archie Brown regarding the derby

Beşiktaş captain Orkun Kökçü made statements after the match in which the Black and Whites defeated Arca Çorum FK 6-2 at home in the 3rd week of the Trendyol Süper Lig. The player evaluated the lopsided victory as well as the upcoming Fenerbahçe derby and the comments made by Archie Brown.

Speaking about giving the penalty kick to Dusan Vlahovic during the match, Orkun Kökçü said he wanted the Serbian striker to gain confidence. Kökçü stated, "As a forward, one always wants to score goals. Dusan has played 3 matches, he hasn't played the full duration, but he also wants to score. At that moment, I don't want to say it's easy, but a penalty is easier. That's why I wanted to leave it to Dusan."

The Beşiktaş captain, noting that Vlahovic's relief after scoring was important for the team, said, "I wanted him to get that feeling of relief because we have a very important match ahead of us, and we need Dusan in that match. We left the penalty to him, he opened up, and scored a hat-trick. Dusan is happy, we are happy."

Orkun Kökçü was also asked about the comments made by Fenerbahçe player Archie Brown following the Samsunspor match, where he addressed Beşiktaş fans saying, "Welcome to Kadıköy, I hope you are ready." Kökçü stated that they are not focusing on the opponent's statements, replying, "We don't get into those games."

Saying they will go into the derby with confidence, Orkun Kökçü added, "We look at ourselves. They saw it today too; we will go there with confidence, and hopefully, we will leave there with 3 points. We have achieved this before. We don't really look at what they say. We look at ourselves, we focus on ourselves. May the best team win."

Emphasizing that derbies hold special importance in Turkey, Kökçü expressed that they will take the field as a team to win. Speaking about new signings Fabio Miretti and Ernest Poku, the captain said that both players are young and have potential, and that they have left a quality impression in training.
