Stating that they sat down at the table with the experienced manager but could not reach an agreement on certain clauses, Yücel said, "A statement has become necessary to prevent the spread of misinformation regarding the subject of Beşiktaş's new manager for the upcoming season, which has been discussed in the football community for some time.

Within the scope of our managerial search, contact was made with Jose Mourinho with the knowledge of our President Hasan Arat and our transfer committee, and the negotiations progressed positively. Ideas were exchanged on many issues regarding football with Mourinho, and a consensus was reached.

However, our inability to find common ground on certain clauses led us to walk away from the table. The reason our negotiations with Mourinho did not reach a conclusion is that we prioritize the supreme interests of Beşiktaş above all else. With an understanding that views even our own personal resources as Beşiktaş's own resources, we will continue to work without hesitation to take responsibility, and we will do things that will make our Beşiktaş family proud both during the transfer period and in the 2024-2025 season. While doing all of this, we will not stray from common sense, and we will certainly achieve great success at the end of these processes," he said.
