Betting penalties for referees: Federation announces decisions

The Turkish Football Federation has announced the penalties for referees referred to the Professional Football Disciplinary Board (PFDK) on the grounds of betting. It was stated that investigations into the status of top-tier referee Zorbay Küçük are continuing.

A total of 149 referees were handed bans ranging from 8 to 12 months.

It was reported that investigations are also ongoing regarding prominent names Melih Kurt and Mertcan Tubay. Among the penalized referees, Egemen Artun received a 10-month ban, Mehmet Ali Özer and Muhammed Selim Özbek received 8-month bans, and Yunus Dursun received a 10-month ban.

According to the PFDK's statement, the penalties were determined by taking into account the severity of the referees' actions. Here are some of the referees and the penalties they received:

  • Egemen Artun: 10-month ban
  • Mehmet Ali Özer: 8-month ban
  • Muhammed Selim Özbek: 8-month ban
  • Yunus Dursun: 10-month ban

The Federation also issued similar penalties for other referees involved in the betting scandal. These decisions are considered an important step toward ensuring that Turkish football continues in a clean and fair manner.
