In the UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg, Inter hosted Barcelona. The match, which ended 3-3 in regular time, saw Inter advance to the final with a 4-3 victory in extra time. Following the match, criticisms directed at the referee came from the Barcelona camp.
Barcelona defender Eric Garcia criticized the Polish referee's performance, saying, "We have had problems with this referee here before. However, we should be proud of the fight we showed as a team." Midfielder Pedri stated, "This is not the first time this referee's controversial decisions have occurred. UEFA needs to investigate this situation."
Referring to the match they played against Inter in 2022, Eric Garcia said, "Things have never gone well for us in this stadium. It could be reason A, reason B, or external factors."
SOMMER'S PERFORMANCE LEFT ITS MARK
The newspaper Marca announced the match with the headline "Maximum torment for Barça." Highlighting the performance of Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer, the newspaper commented, "Sommer's three incredible saves have gone down in Champions League history. Blocking the chances of Lamine Yamal and Eric Garcia earned Inter a ticket to Monaco."
