Buse Naz Çakıroğlu wins silver medal
At the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, national boxer Buse Naz Çakıroğlu won the silver medal after being defeated by Yu Wu of China in the women's 50kg final.
World and European champion national boxer Buse Naz Çakıroğlu, who etched her name in history as the first female boxer from Turkey to qualify for the Olympics, faced her Chinese opponent Yu Wu in the 50kg final match.
The 28-year-old Fenerbahçe boxer advanced to the semifinals by defeating her Mexican opponent Fatima Herrera 5-0 in the round of 16 and Pihla Kaivo-Oja 5-0 in the quarterfinals.
After securing her spot in the Paris final by defeating her Filipino opponent Aira Villegas 5-0 in the semifinals, the reigning Olympic silver medalist and World and European champion boxer Çakıroğlu lost the final to her Chinese opponent Yu Wu, dropping the first round 4-1, the second round 4-1, and the third round 5-0, resulting in a 4-1 defeat and earning the silver medal.
Buse Naz Çakıroğlu won Turkey's third silver medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and made history as the only athlete to win 2 medals in boxing in Olympic history.
Meanwhile, with this medal, the total number of medals for Turkey at the Paris Olympic Games has risen to 6.
