Cape Verde goalkeeper gains millions of followers after Spain match
Cape Verde national team goalkeeper Vozinha gained more than 2 million followers on Instagram after the 0-0 draw against Spain.
In the first match of Group H at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, tournament favorites Spain drew 0-0 with Cape Verde, which is competing in the tournament for the first time in its history.
Cape Verde's 40-year-old goalkeeper, Vozinha, was named man of the match after making 7 saves and preventing 1.46 expected goals.
Vozinha, who had 43,500 followers on the social media platform Instagram before the match, saw an abnormal increase in his follower count following a call made to football fans by commentators on the Brazilian channel Caze TV.
Vozinha's follower count reached 220,000 within one minute of the call on Caze TV. By the final whistle, his follower count had reached 1.4 million.
The 40-year-old goalkeeper's current follower count is 2 million.
