Carlos, who reached an agreement with Fenerbahçe, has arrived in Istanbul

Brazilian defender Diego Carlos, whom Fenerbahçe announced it has reached a principle agreement with both his club Aston Villa and the player himself, has arrived in Istanbul.

The 31-year-old player, who arrived at the Atatürk Airport General Aviation Terminal on a private jet, was welcomed by Fenerbahçe Club officials.

The yellow-navy club is expected to sign a contract with Diego Carlos following medical examinations and final negotiations.

Diego Carlos' career

Diego Carlos was born on March 15, 1993, in Barra Bonita, Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The defender, who began his career in the youth academy of the Brazilian team Desportivo, later transferred to the Sao Paulo under-20 team.

After stints at Sao Paulo for one year, Paulista for half a season, and Madureira for two months, Diego Carlos stepped into Europe, moving to the Portuguese team Estoril, and from there on loan to Porto's B team.

Transferring to Nantes in 2016 and then to Sevilla in 2019, Diego Carlos succeeded in winning the UEFA Europa League in his first season with the Spanish team.

Diego Carlos, who won a gold medal with the Brazilian National Team at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, transferred to Premier League side Aston Villa before the 2022-2023 season.

The Brazilian player, who appeared in 58 matches during his Aston Villa career, 40 of which were in the Premier League, scored 1 goal and provided 1 assist in these matches.

This season, Carlos wore the Aston Villa jersey 17 times, including 10 in the Premier League, 6 in the UEFA Champions League, and 1 in the English League Cup.
