Celebrations from Bilbao after winning the Copa del Rey for the first time in 40 years!

 Athletic Bilbao, which won the Copa del Rey in Spain by defeating Real Mallorca on penalties in the final match played on April 6, held a historic celebration with its fans.

Athletic Bilbao, the team from the city of Bilbao in the Basque region of northern Spain, organized a massive celebration for the Copa del Rey they won.

The barge named "La Gabarra," which was last used in the celebrations for the trophy won in 1984, was taken out of the museum and sailed for the first time in 40 years.

The players and coaching staff of Athletic Bilbao boarded the 18.5-meter-long "La Gabarra" with the trophy and traveled a 13-kilometer route along the Bilbao river.

Hundreds of thousands of Athletic Bilbao fans, filling all the roads, cafes, and the balconies, windows, and terraces of houses along the riverbank, celebrated their team's cup success.

The city of Bilbao was draped in the club's colors of red and white.

According to the Spanish press, the celebrations, which were attended by more than 1 million people, concluded with speeches made from the balcony of the Bilbao city hall.

While Barcelona is the club that has won the Spanish Copa del Rey the most times with 31 titles, it is followed by Athletic Bilbao with 24.

Bilbao also holds the distinction of being the first club to ever win this trophy.

La Gabarra, which was built in the 1980s when Bilbao was an important city for Spanish industry, was considered for a return to the water for the Spanish Super Cup won in 2015 after being sailed in the river for the 1984 trophy, but officials later decided that the barge should remain in the museum.
