Cenk Tosun's Fenerbahçe confession

Cenk Tosun, who transferred to Fenerbahçe after playing for Beşiktaş for many years, made notable remarks regarding this choice in his career. The former national footballer evaluated his move to the yellow-navy club as a "mistake" but said he felt no regret.

Tosun, who wore the Fenerbahçe jersey for 1.5 seasons between 2024 and 2026, pointed to the bond he formed with the fans at Beşiktaş and stated the following:

"Do I have regrets? I do not. But was it a mistake to go to Fenerbahçe? I think it was a mistake. I think it was a mistake for a person who has belonged to a club, who has become a legend there, and who has become so united with the fans there, to go to another big community. But if you ask if I have regrets, as I said, I still do not."

In his assessment regarding Fenerbahçe's long-standing championship drought, Tosun also criticized the club's management approach. While emphasizing that Fenerbahçe is a very large community, the experienced striker stated that success does not come solely with names despite significant transfers.

Drawing attention to the importance of team spirit and camaraderie, Tosun expressed that the expectations of the yellow-navy fans create pressure on the players. Reminding that whistles start when goals are not scored in the early minutes of matches, Tosun also said he could understand the fans' desire for a championship.

HE ALSO TOUCHED UPON THE MOURINHO ERA

Cenk Tosun also spoke about Jose Mourinho, with whom he worked at Fenerbahçe. Stating that they got along well with the Portuguese coach off the pitch, Tosun expressed that he did not find enough playing time, however.

Stating that he worked hard in training and tried to contribute to the team when he entered the game, Tosun said, "My relationship with Jose Mourinho was very good off the pitch, but for some reason, he wouldn't play me on the pitch."

Comparing his Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş periods, the experienced footballer argued that it is more difficult to play at Fenerbahçe under current conditions. Tosun stated that the expectation for a championship is high in the yellow-navy community and that reactions increase during periods when this cannot be met.
