Champion crowned in women's singles at the Rome Open Tennis Tournament
In the women's singles final of the Rome Open Tennis Tournament, the number 1 seed, Polish player Iga Swiatek, defeated her opponent, the number 2 seed, Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, 2-0 to become the champion.
The women's singles final was played at the 81st edition of the Rome Open Tennis Tournament, held on the clay courts of the Foro Italico Complex in the capital, Rome. In the final match, Polish racket Iga Swiatek faced her Belarusian opponent Aryna Sabalenka.
Swiatek took the first set of the women's singles final, played on Center Court, 6-2 without much difficulty, taking advantage of her opponent's errors to make the set score 1-0.
The second set of the match was more competitive. Starting the second set with more determination, Sabalenka was unable to capitalize on opportunities to break her opponent's serve. In contrast, Swiatek broke Sabalenka's serve in the 7th game and took the lead in the set. Swiatek broke her opponent's serve once more in the 9th game to take the set 6-3. Thus, bringing the set score to 2-0, Swiatek won the final match, which lasted a total of 1.5 hours, and became the champion in Rome once again.
With this result, Swiatek reached the happy ending in Rome for the 3rd time, following her victories in 2021 and 2022.
MEN'S FINAL TOMORROW
The Rome Open Tennis Tournament will conclude tomorrow with the men's singles final match to be played between the number 3 seed, German Alexander Zverev, and the number 21 seed, Chilean Nicholas Jarry.
