PSG's Vitinha missed a penalty kick in the 22nd minute, while Monaco's Aleksandr Golovin was shown a red card in the 48th minute.
In a match that started 15 minutes late because the Borussia Dortmund team bus was stuck in traffic, the German side defeated Italy's Atalanta 2-0.
The goals that brought victory to Borussia Dortmund were scored by Sehrou Guirassy and Maximilian Beier.
In the highly anticipated matchup of the night, Real Madrid defeated Benfica 1-0 away with a stylish goal scored by Vinicius Junior in the 50th minute.
In the 50th minute of the match played at the Luz Stadium, after scoring the goal that put his team ahead, Vinicius Junior came to the sidelines alleging that he had been subjected to racism.
The Brazilian star claimed to the match's French referee, François Letexier, that Benfica player Gianluca Prestianni had made racist gestures, and the match was halted for 10 minutes. The match then continued from where it left off.
