Commission scandal allegations at Beşiktaş: Hasan Arat's response was swift

Former Beşiktaş president Hasan Arat responded to statements made about him by technical director Samet Aybaba. Speaking to Candaş Tolga Işık, Arat criticized Aybaba with harsh words:

"Samet Aybaba is speaking this way because he did not sign this 27 million lira annual contract. Are the bonuses written here commissions? He should not act with treachery by hiding behind the youth. There is no such thing as a commission in my book; only those who take them know about it."

'HASAN ARAT IS LYING'

The response to Hasan Arat's accusations was not long in coming. Samet Aybaba made statements through Candaş Tolga Işık, accusing Arat of lying:

"The president is clearly lying. He told me himself, 'You are not receiving proper money, and I am very upset about this. Let us prepare a contract for you.' He told me to handle this matter with Hüseyin Yücel. I did not prepare the contract; club employees did. Moreover, I did not sign this contract. There are many witnesses to this."

Aybaba provided a detailed response to Arat's claims and explained what happened as follows:

"My entire team speaks English and even German. When I learned that my signature had been forged, I called him and said, 'What kind of disgrace is this?' He told me, 'Coach, just bear with it, there are certain things going on.' When I refused to accept it, the contract was canceled. They had made a purchase offer of 5 million. Upon my warning, they withdrew the offer via email and a loan deal was made for 500,000 pounds. I had already said the same thing. What is Mr. Hasan denying? There are witnesses to all of this."

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

During a press conference he held, Samet Aybaba stated, "A friend of ours named Friedel was brought on board. It was said, 'He won't come to Ümraniye, he won't interfere with your work, he will only handle sales.' He did come to Ümraniye and even brought assistants for the coach. Fees similar to transfer fees were paid to these assistants. Emboldened by Kaan Şakul and the president, he started to think of himself as the emperor of that place. I went to the president and said, 'You are paying this person a high salary, but you are also paying him a commission.' The president said to me, 'Let's give you some too, from the sales of Mustafa and Semih.' I said, 'What does this mean?' My only desire is to contribute to Beşiktaş. There are witnesses to all these events."

On the other hand, claiming that his signature was forged in the Joe Worrall transfer, Aybaba had remarked, "In the Joe Worrall transfer, an offer was made using my electronic signature. When I called the club, they said, 'You must have been aware of it.' I don't know which executive it was."
