Cracks appear at Trabzonspor's Akyazı Stadium

Akyazı Stadium, which Trabzonspor built from scratch in 2016 after a long wait, is sounding the alarm. Fans who saw the current state of Akyazı Stadium, where cracks have formed on its walls, were left stunned.

BUILT ON RECLAIMED LAND

The stadium, built on reclaimed land in 2016 due to its seaside location, has begun to crack. According to experts, ground subsidence is inevitable for such large structures built on reclaimed land.

EXPERTS HAD WARNED

It was known that experts had issued warnings even after the stadium was built. Those who highlighted the danger of the reclaimed land have been proven right. Walls in some parts of the stadium have begun to crack.

According to a report by Ekol TV; some points at Akyazı Stadium have begun to crack significantly. Following the frightening images, the structures have started to deteriorate.

The stadium, the construction of which was completed in 2016, was built on a fault line that collapsed in a landslide area.

Renowned geologist Osman Bektaş highlighted the danger by stating, "4,600 bored piles were driven in so that the Akyazı Stadium on the fill could bear this weight. Despite all this, constant fractures and cracks have been observed in the building. This is due to the differential settlement of the building. If the building had settled evenly, there would be no problem. Without knowing the condition of the subsurface, we also built the City Hospital here on top of the fractures we see on the surface. There is danger in this fill at any moment..."
